Shellout

Shellout.png

Shellout’s armor is thick, but it’s really a cover for fear of confrontation. This Resistobot™ avoids tense conversations, sidesteps accountability, and slips away from the heat of conflict. When challenges mount, Shellout may procrastinate, deflect, or disappear entirely, hoping the storm will pass. While their retreat can frustrate others, what’s really driving them is the deep discomfort of facing resistance head-on.

Yet, Shellout has a surprising strength: patience and perspective. At their best, they remind us that not every battle needs to be fought right away. By slowing down and creating space for reflection, Shellout ensures the team avoids rash decisions and builds change that lasts.

How to shift

To pull back into the core strength of Shellout, it is important to remember that avoiding things does not make them go away or make them easier. Difficult things are not like cheese or wine where they get better with age. They are like a festering wound. The longer you avoid dealing with them, the worse it becomes.

Start by considering the difficult conversations and interactions that are in front of you. Which ones have been festering for a long time and are getting in the way of your improvement efforts? Which single one can you take a small step toward working on today? You never have to handle the whole all at once, instead break them down into smaller steps that feel more manageable.

With time and repetitions, you will build the muscles of facing these challenges more quickly and not feel the strain as much.
